Welcome Message from the President

Welcome to the International Network of Safety & Health Practitioner Organisations.

On behalf of the 2011/2012 Executive Council and the Secretariat (ASSE), I would like to welcome our new President-Elect Vince McNeilly and Vice President Nikolay Novikov to the Executive and thank both of them for their input to and enthusiasm for INSHPO.  The Executive also includes Secretary-Treasurer Eldeen Pozniak (CSSE), and Immediate Past President Martin Ralph (IFAP).

INSHPO now boasts 15 full and affiliate members from 11 countries.  Our growth is evidence of the desire for, and commitment to, international co-operation on issues related to the constant improvement in workplace safety and health standards.

INSHPO is working to achieve international recognition of OSH professionals charged with improving global performance so as to further reduce human suffering and ill health resulting from work related activities and during the course of 2011/2012 will be looking to its members to adopt the standards for professionals that INSHPO proposes.

The 2011 / 2012 Executive Committee faces some important challenges.  With our growth comes the challenge of communicating with and involving our member associations.  These challenges include multiple time zones and working with organisations whose primary language is not English.  However, the main challenge INSHPO has is to continue to grow its membership and to promote its current initiatives while developing new ones that complement our vision and provide value for our members.

To be the President at this time is both exciting and challenging.  INSHPO’s initiatives need to be taken up by OSH Professional organisations around the world.  In addition, INSHPO must continue to grow and work towards its goals including achieving NGO status.

With the arrival of new directors from IOSH, ASSE and CSSE there is a fresh energy and desire within the Executive and an anticipation for bringing some important initiatives to fruition and looking forward to what the full INSHPO Board of Directors can achieve over the next few years.  I look forward to regular communication with new and existing members through engagement with the Board of Directors.  I also look forward to welcoming new member associations and collaborating with others who may subscribe to the INSHPO vision.
